The YMCA of Regina (operating in Regina & Moose Jaw) excels at delivering programming focused on our three pillars of service: community development, childcare health fitness, & aquatics.
Reporting to the Director of Child, Youth, & Camp Programs, the Summer Camp Counsellors support each childs social development, personal growth, health, and well-being through engaging, inclusive programming. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable individuals with experience working with children who are interested in working 15 and 40 hours per week for the summer season. Camp activities include a mix of physical activity, sports, arts, science, and community-based experiences.
Responsibilities:
Plan, lead, and evaluate age-appropriate activities for children 4-5 and 6-12 years, following program plans set by the Summer Day Camp Program Coordinator
Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that supports personal development, social skills, recreation, and overall well-being
Actively supervise participants to ensure safety at all times
Build positive relationships with campers, families, and fellow staff
Serve as a positive role model and reflect the YMCA values in all interactions
Maintain clean, organized, and safe program spaces, including classrooms, activity areas, and shared spaces
Support daily cleaning routines such as sanitizing equipment, tidying activity areas, and assisting with opening and closing procedures
Job Requirements:
Standard First Aid & CPR-C
Criminal Record Chick with Vulnerable Sector Search within 3 months of start date
Experience working in day camps or recreational programs (an asset)
HIGH Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or additional child-focused training or certifications (an asset)
