The Role
As a member of the Cigar Lake safety, health, environment and quality group, this role is primarily responsible for carrying out environmental compliance monitoring activities. This role also includes duties related to wildlife management, site inspections, and assisting in the response to environment-related events. The environment technician will also play a significant role in providing training and information to employees on environmental issues and related aspects of the operation. This is a nine-month temporary position.
In this role, you will:
-Collect, prepare, and ship environmental samples.
-Perform data entry and synthesis.
-Prepare reports related to department activity.
-Conduct site environmental inspections.
-Assist with wildlife management activities and programs.
-Support the response to environmental emergency events on site.
Required:
-environmental monitoring technician certificate or diploma in a related field;
-minimum of six months of relevant work experience;
-equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
-valid class 5 drivers license (or equivalent)
-excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as problem-solving abilities; and
-work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
-an understanding of the relevant governing acts, procedures, and policies;
-field experience, including operation and maintenance of boats, snowmobiles, and all-terrain vehicles, along with any required operator training/certification; and
-computer experience, including data entry, database, and MS Office.
