Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Community Addiction Services, the main focus of this position is to provide specialized counselling, education, and support services to family members, who are the primary client. The Addiction Counsellor helps clients understand and address substance abuse and related problems, including mental health issues, problem gambling, family dynamics, and lifestyle changes. Duties will also involve providing program co-ordination, leading evening group programs, counseling, case and file management, intake, distribution of work, orientation of new staff, and the coordination of practicum students. The counsellor is expected to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals within the organization, and to establish and maintain partnerships with related community organizations. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

- Chemical Dependency diploma
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to deal with life threatening situations including suicide
