Description

The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement supports economic growth and quality of life in Saskatchewan by delivering essential services to the public and government ministries.

The Property Management Branch is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Tradesperson to support correctional facilities in Saskatoon and the surrounding area. This role focuses on maintaining governmentoperated buildings to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The ministry is looking for a dependable, handson individual who can apply practical trade skills in a demanding operational environment.

The ideal candidate is flexible, organized, and resourceful, with general knowledge of building repair and maintenance and familiarity with building trade methods, materials, tools, and practices. The position requires the ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting and climbing, and to respond to maintenance needs independently or as part of a team.

Candidates must possess a 5th Class Power Engineers Certificate or a Firemans Boiler Operator Certificate and Refrigeration Operator Certificate. Training may be provided during the probation period. A Journeyperson trade certificate and skidsteer training are considered assets. The successful candidate must also be available to participate in an oncall standby rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key responsibilities include operating, maintaining, and cleaning mechanical, HVAC, boiler, and airconditioning systems; performing preventative and general repairs; assisting with reactionary repairs; completing minor construction projects; and ensuring facilities and equipment meet safety and operating standards.
