Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing welding repairs and maintenance on draglines, coal-handling facilities, drills, and other mining-related equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
- Conduct inspections on mining and plant equipment and report any deficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance and operational performance checks on equipment.
- Respond to unplanned equipment outages and assist with preparing planned shutdowns.
- Maintain records of repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
- Operate welding truck, skid steer, forklift, tractor, boom truck, or cranes as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- Red Seal Journeyperson Welder certification.
- Class 3 or 1 driver's license with air (A) endorsement is preferred.
- Previous experience in a mining environment is an asset.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks at heights (e.g. elevated boom point and mast of draglines).
Schedule
This position currently follows a 28-day shift rotation working day and night shifts from 6:00 to 6:00. The shift rotation is: 3 days, 2 off, 2 nights, 3 off, 2 days, 2 off, 3 nights, 2 off, 2 days, 3 off, 2 nights, 2 off.
Location
The Estevan Mine is located approximately 12 km from the city of Estevan and 16 km from the town of Bienfait. The successful candidate will be responsible for his/her own accommodations and transportation.
