Description

The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport supports provincial economic growth and quality of life by managing Saskatchewans parks and delivering recreation, sport, heritage, and cultural opportunities. The Ministry is offering a seasonal position (April to December) for a Park Maintenance Worker at Douglas Park, providing a role that contributes to safe operations, public service, and wellmaintained park facilities.
They are seeking a motivated, adaptable team member who brings strong technical ability and the flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate is an effective leader with experience supervising small crews, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance. Candidates should have solid skills related to trades, equipment operation, and general facility maintenance, along with sound judgment and a commitment to safety and service excellence.

Key qualifications include a Class I Water Distribution and Water Treatment Certificate. Candidates actively progressing toward Class II certification may also be considered if at least one component is complete. Practical experience operating light and heavy equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and mowers is required. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to coach and mentor staff, communicate clearly with the public, complete administrative tasks such as purchasing and coding transactions, and follow ministry procedures and OH&S regulations. A valid drivers licence and availability to work weekends are also required.

Responsibilities may include operating a potable water treatment facility, overseeing maintenance activities completed by staff or contractors, supporting seasonal employees, and contributing to a positive work environment that reflects the Ministrys commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation.
