Description

The Ministry of Environment offers a collaborative, sciencebased workplace focused on environmental protection, resilient communities, balanced economic growth, and continuous improvement. The ministry values innovation and high client satisfaction and provides dynamic work, competitive salary, comprehensive benefits with pension, vacation and EDOs, advancement opportunities, inclusive environments, and flexible work arrangements. The Climate Resilience Branch is seeking a Senior Research Officer to support planning and reporting within the Adaptation and Resilience Analysis Unit.

The ministry is looking for a motivated, experienced professional who can work independently and in teams, anticipate issues, innovate, and provide sound recommendations. Candidates must be reliable, organized, adaptable, and able to communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical audiences. The role requires travel, including to remote locations, and a valid Class 5 drivers licence.

Key knowledge includes adaptation and carbon management strategies, Saskatchewan climate and resilience issues, and strong skills in data visualization, analysis, and synthesis. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to assess complex information, manage shifting priorities, and present concise results. The required background is normally gained through graduate education in a field combining scientific and socioeconomic perspectives, such as sustainability management or environmental economics, along with experience applying these principles to complex issues.

If space allows, responsibilities include providing expertise on resilience topics, supporting emissions and economic modelling, preparing resilience reporting, developing visualizations and summaries, advising on resilience opportunities, and representing the ministry on committees.
