Saskatoon Public Schools is seeking applications for the position of Elementary School Counsellor. This position provides direct support to Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8 students who demonstrate emotional, social, or behavioural needs that impact their academic progress, peer relationships, and overall school success. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, families/caregivers, and community partners to support student well-being and achievement.
The successful candidate will:
- provide counselling support to students through direct service, case management and referrals
- collaborate with school teams, families and community partners to support student needs
- respond to complex and emergent situations, including risk assessment and crisis response
- support inclusive programming and student success within the school environment
The successful candidate will have:
- a degree in social work, educational psychology, or a related field, or a degree in education and hold a valid Saskatchewan teaching certificate
- experience supporting children and youth with social, emotional, or behavioural needs
- training in counselling and eligibility for registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., Registered Social Worker, Canadian - - Certified Counsellor, or Registered Psychologist)
- strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
