The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of all Montreal Lake Child and Family Agency facilities, both internally and externally. This role plays an important part in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for staff, clients, and visitors. The employee may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform cleaning duties in accordance with established procedures and schedules
Maintain cleanliness at all designated agency and other locations
Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, and wax floors as required
Ensure all areas are cleaned and prepared for next-day use
Maintain janitorial supply inventory, including ordering and restocking
Report completed work and any concerns to the supervisor
Notify maintenance of repair needs through proper channels
Keep all areas, including storage spaces and hallways, organized and clutter-free
Respond to emergency cleaning and maintenance needs
Report any signs of vandalism or damage immediately
Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to WHMIS standards
Ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience & Knowledge
Previous experience as a janitor or custodian
WHMIS certification
Knowledge of cleaning products, tools, and equipment
Must provide a current CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check upon hiring
Additional Requirements
Valid drivers license (asset)
Access to a reliable vehicle (asset)
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
Must be willing to work in Montreal Lake 106A
Must sign and adhere to the Code of Conduct
