Based in the Creighton office within the North Service Areas, this role delivers child protection services under The Child and Family Services Act and The Adoption Act, using the Family Centered Case Management Model of practice. The ideal candidate is adaptable, culturally responsive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively while building respectful relationships with families, communities, and partner organizations, including First Nation Child and Family Service agencies.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university recognized by SASW/CASW or CASWE. Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, child abuse and neglect indicators, risk assessment, and intervention planning is essential. The role requires sound judgment, effective communication and assessment skills, and the ability to manage complex cases involving court processes and long-term care planing. Willingness to travel, work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and transport children and families as required is mandatory.
Responsibilities include investigating allegations of abuse or neglect, assessing child safety and family functioning, developing and implementing intervention plans, initiating Family Court proceedings, managing children in care including placement and treatment planning, and coordinating long-term plans with families and partner agencies.
