Description

The Ministry of Social Services offers a unique leadership opportunity to support the safety and well-being of children and families in northern Saskatchewan. This drive-in, drive-out Assistant Supervisor position is based in Buffalo Narrows and follows a four-week rotation with 11-hour workdays and scheduled days off. The ministry supports employees through compensated travel time, potential staff housing, competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and valuable leadership experience within an inclusive work environment.

The ministry is seeking an experienced and collaborative leader committed to child protection, staff development, and culturally responsive practice. The ideal candidate is a positive role model who can coach, mentor, and empower professional staff, provide guidance in the supervisors absence, and work effectively with caregivers, communities, and partner agencies, including First Nations Child and Family Services.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from an accredited university approved by SASW/CASW or CASWE, along with several years of experience in Child Protection or Childrens Services within Child and Family programs and supervising professional staff. Strong knowledge of child abuse, neglect, and domestic violence indicators, child protection legislation, Ministry policies, and social work theories is required. Cultural competence, particularly knowledge of First Nations and Metis values, combined with strong communication, leadership, and coaching skills, is essential.
