Description

The Provincial Protective Services Branch of the Ministry of Community Safety has a career opportunity in Regina with the Saskatchewan Witness Protection Unit.

As an Investigator, you will assist the Deputy Director of the Witness Protection Unit with the provision of protection services to protected persons accepted into the provincial witness protection program. You will provide comprehensive support to the witness protection program by conducting duties pursuant to the Witness Protection Act in a confidential manner to safeguard the safety and security of protected persons. .

The successful candidate will be required to carry a firearm and must meet and maintain standards of certification for use of force as set by the Saskatchewan Police Commission. Additionally, you may be required to undergo psychological testing to demonstrate overall suitability for the position. You must submit to a criminal record check and background checks, qualify for a heightened level of security clearance, possess a valid driver's license, and work varied shifts with extended hours. You must be willing and able to work under stressful situations, travel within Canada and move/set up residences when relocating witnesses.

The incumbent will be appointed as a Special Constable pursuant to The Police Act, 1990.

The knowledge required for this position would typically be gained by the successful completion of training from an approved police academy/college, supplemented by extensive policing experience conducting covert investigations, enforcement and intelligence gathering. Areas of policing experience should include witness management, human source handling, major crime and/or organized crime/gang investigations.
