The Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways offers an opportunity to join its Design Standards team as a Senior Design Engineer in Regina, Prince Albert, or Saskatoon. The ministry is seeking a motivated professional with strong engineering expertise, excellent interpersonal and consultative skills, and a desire to both learn and mentor others. The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and collaborative, with strong problemsolving abilities and an interest in supporting colleagues through technical guidance and training.
Candidates will have a solid technical foundation, typically including a degree in Civil Engineering, experience in roadway design, and a strong understanding of geometric design principles. Knowledge of the TAC Geometric Design Guide and Saskatchewan Supplement is essential. Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) is required, along with the ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.
Responsibilities include providing interpretation and direction on design standards, researching and revising standards, explaining underlying engineering principles, mentoring and training staff, solving complex design issues, reviewing design exceptions, monitoring industry trends, and providing technical input across planning, design, traffic operations, and innovation initiatives.
