Job Summary:
The Legal Assistant Prairies will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to
the Senior Legal Counsel West and other Union counsel working in Saskatchewan, Manitoba
and Alberta. This position entails assisting in the preparation of legal documents, conducting
research, and maintaining records related to labour relations matters. The ideal candidate will
possess a strong understanding of labour laws and regulations, excellent organizational skills,
and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and organize physical files, records, and databases related to legal cases and
issues.
Administer the calendar of counsel, including scheduling hearing dates and submission
deadlines for court, tribunal and arbitral proceedings.
Assist in the preparation, review, and filing of legal documents, including contracts,
agreements, and correspondence.
Maintain and update bargaining rights held by the Union.
Develop and maintain precedents, and assist in the drafting of documents including
grievance referrals and Labour Board applications
Perform searches and make requests for documents and filings, including corporate
profile reports and Labour Board documents
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, members, employers, business
representatives, and legal counsel.
Provide administrative support, including drafting memos, reports, and other documents
as needed.
