Waterhen Lake First Nation Health Department is seeking a qualified and compassionate Trauma-Informed Health and Cultural Support Worker. This role supports mental wellness, healing, and culturally grounded care for Class Members and their families. This position is funded under the First Nations Child and Family Services & Jordans Principle Class Action Settlement and the Federal Indian Hospital (Hardy) Settlement. This position is for 14-21 hours per week, based on a two-year term.
Key Responsibilities
Provide trauma-informed counselling and emotional support.
Support individuals and families impacted by intergenerational trauma and settlement-related experiences.
Facilitate healing circles, cultural activities, and support groups.
Provide crisis intervention and mental wellness support.
Assist clients in accessing mental health and wellness services.
Conduct community outreach and education.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and Elders.
Requirements
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from an accredited institution.
Minimum two (2) years counselling experience.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and Indigenous mental wellness.
Strong counselling, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered or eligible for registration with Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.
Experience working with First Nations communities.
Experience providing trauma-informed mental health support.
