Description

The MLTC Bioenergy Centre is a 6.6 MW power generation system facility fueled primarily by biomass sawmill residuals. The plant supplies power to the SaskPower grid and is located 8kms east of Meadow Lake.

Working in conjunction with the Lead Process Operator, the Utility and Maintenance Operator is responsible for field work on the Bioenergy site including snow/ash removal, assisting with maintenance, and site access management. This position utilizes a combination of power mobile equipment, hand and power tools, and safety equipment to perform routine duties, as well as emergency maintenance when directed by the Lead Operator.

Duties
    Follow direction of Lead Process Operator and Maintenance Team (Millwright, Electrician)
    Ability to operate heavy equipment (training, experience, ability to learn)
    Ash/snow removal and manual fuel transport/infeed when required
    Daily inspections, fueling and minor maintenance on heavy equipment
    Notify Lead Process Operator when emergency maintenance on heavy equipment is required (damage and/or system failures)
    Report all on-site safety issues/incidents to the Process Operator immediately

Job Requirements
    Heavy Equipment Operator training and/or experience
    A valid drivers license with a clean abstract (insurable) and a reliable vehicle
    Proficient in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, torque tools, lubrication tools, and mechanical testing instrument
    Competence in preventive maintenance scheduling, lubrication tasks, part replacement, equipment cleaning, and record-keeping of mechanical maintenance activities.
    Willing to train and learn new processes and operational duties
    Willing to work 12-hour shifts (days/nights)
    Working unsupervised and/or as part of a team
    Must be willing to work in extreme weather conditions year-round.
