Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF) is a farmer funded and directed crop research funding organization. We are committed to increasing the profitability and sustainability of Western Canadian farmers through excellence in crop research. As Communications Manager, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a communications program that reaches farmers and agronomists in Western Canada. This is a full-time position.
DUTIES
- Develop, recommend and implement internal and external communications strategies.
- Prepare communications material including: member updates, presentations, press releases, and annual reports.
- Manage and evaluate effectiveness of communications for WGRF funded research.
- Manage and update WGRF website.
- Provide oversite for additional websites supported by WGRF.
- Manage WGRF social media accounts and maintain consistency across all platforms.
- Oversee external communications consultants.
- Coordinate communications with staff, Directors, and external stakeholders.
- Work with media.
- Work with researchers to develop material for knowledge transfer.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Relevant university degree in business marketing, journalism or related discipline combined with 5 plus years of work experience.
- Familiar with the agricultural industry in Western Canada.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Familiar with websites using WordPress.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
- Self-starter with strong planning and organizational skills.
- Strong emotional intelligence and maturity.
- Thrives on initiating, building and encouraging strong authentic relationships inside and outside of WGRF.
