The Role
As part of the site operational group, shaft operations you will be responsible for:
-Operating, inspecting and maintaining the main cage and skip conveyance.
-Preparing equipment and materials to be moved to/from the underground using slings and rigging.
-Operating equipment such as Telehandlers and skid steer loader.
-Working with a diverse workforce (Cameco employees, contractors, and trades personnel).
-Fulfil all duties as detailed in the mines regulations Mine Shaft 1 operator training requirements.
-Plan and execute rope changes, rope cuts and other shaft maintenance.
Required:
-grade 12 diploma, or equivalent;
-a minimum five years of underground mining industry experience;
-must successfully pass the crane and rigging course;
-previous mine shaft experience in a lead role;
-ability to achieve and maintain hoist operator/supervisor certificate;
-slinging and rigging experience in a lead role;
-previous lead hand experience;
-excellent communication and computer skills;
-certification for transportation of explosives; and
-work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
