Description

The City of Melfort is seeking a full time Seasonal employee to fill a position working in the Public Works department performing duties related to the operation and maintenance of city infrastructure and facilities.  This is an on-going position subject to annual layoff and recall, as per Article 13 of the Collective Agreement. The employment period could be up to 6 months annually, approximately May-October.
Qualifications:
    Ability to assist with street patching and crack filling of city streets.
    Ability to assist with the maintenance of city signage as well as street and crosswalk line painting.
    Ability to maintain the city cemetery by providing general maintenance of the grounds including but limited to cutting grass & edge trimming, ensuring headstones are clear of debris, filling in sunken gravesites, and trimming hedges and trees.
    Ability to maintain the city compost site by directing customers to appropriate areas.
    Ability to undertake the regular and special maintenance of all equipment needed to complete necessary work.
    Ability to maintain an accurate work record of the equipment and duties performed.
    Ability to ensure facilities and equipment are maintained at a standard of care to ensure the safety of the employees and public.
    Ability to effectively communicate with members of the public, the leadership team, and other colleagues.  
    Ability to adhere to City of Melfort Safety Program
    Willing to participate in training opportunities that the City of Melfort deems necessary to improve knowledge and job performance.
    Ability to understand and complete oral and written instructions with minimum supervision.
    Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
    Valid Class 5 drivers license with drivers abstract
    Must be physically able to lift up to 30lbs and perform labor demanding tasks
    Ability to pass a criminal background check and a vulnerable sector check.
    Experience with light motor vehicles such as lawnmowers, edge trim
