Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week flexible based on program needs
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Directors of Childrens and Womens Housing, the Cultural Manager will provide opportunities and encouragement for individuals to participate in traditional teachings, ceremonies, events, and activities by organizing, coordinating and/or facilitating activities. The Cultural Manager will act as a collaborator within all department to provide culturally appropriate services and events to program participants. The Manager will provide support in programming i.e. openings, smudging ceremonies, etc.
This role will have direct contact with other knowledge and language keepers, Elders, Matriarchs, drummers, singers, dancers, etc., and access them as resources for the programs. The individual will encourage children, youth, parents, team members and other program participants to access other healthy lifestyle and culturally appropriate programming as applicable. This position works closely and collaboratively with Indigenous Relations team.

The Cultural Coordinator will be required to be out in the community, which includes indoor and outdoor environments in all seasons. Traditional medicines and healing practices are utilized in ceremonies and circles. This position requires the Cultural Coordinator to deal with a wide variety of people with challenging personal issues, which can be stressful at times.
