As part of our commitment to Indigenous ways of knowing and ongoing reconciliation, we are seeking an Indigenous & Nature Interpretation Lead to help shape meaningful, inclusive science experiences.
This role enhances visitor experiences through the integration of Indigenous knowledge, environmental science, and nature-based programming. The Lead builds relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers, supports respectful program development, and oversees the care and interpretation of the Science Centre's animal ambassadors. Through engaging programs focused on biodiversity and ecosystems, this position helps visitors explore connections between people, animals, and the land from both scientific and Indigenous perspectives.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver programs integrating Indigenous knowledge and perspectives on nature, land, and relationships.
Build relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers.
Oversee animal care and living collections, including staff training and zoo licensing compliance.
Supervise and support staff in program delivery and animal care.
Participate in ongoing professional development (including required training and travel).
Support camps, outreach, exhibits, and events as needed.

Some post-secondary education in science, outdoor education, Indigenous studies, or a related field.
