Description

As the Grain Originator, the successful candidate will complement the high-volume contracts of the Merchandising department by developing and maintaining relationships with key grain producers and dealers. They will gain market information for producers and source grain to satisfy P&Hs export and domestic customer needs.

Day to Day

Identify business opportunities with producers and dealers
Negotiate contracts with producers and dealers on the purchase of grain
First point of contact for purchasing and delivery of grain
Meet with producers face to face to prospect for new business, nurture relationships, and collect grain samples
Update producers on market information
Review grain marketing programs
Provide the P&H Merchandising team with grain market information from producers and dealers

Qualifications

Demonstrated success in grain origination, particularly within the local region, and a deep understanding of the agricultural industry.
Demonstrated ability to learn, analyze and effectively communicate grain markets, pricing trends, and marketing strategies.
Valid drivers license and be available to travel periodically.
Strong proficiency in sales techniques and negotiation strategies, with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets and successfully closing deals.
Exceptional customer service, relationship building and networking skills.
Competence in using agricultural software systems and working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Application Suite, with high proficiency in Excel.
Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
