This Equipment Operator position in the Big River Section, within the Operations and Maintenance Division, supports roads, highways, and airports that are vital to communities and commerce.

The ideal candidate is approachable, flexible, and self-motivated, with strong situational awareness and the ability to adapt to changing and high-pressure conditions. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, perform physically and mentally demanding tasks, and operate effectively in extreme and changing weather conditions.
To qualify, candidates must hold a valid Class 1A drivers licence and be prepared to provide a current driver abstract if invited to interview. The role requires physical stamina for heavy lifting and physical labour, along with basic computer skills to manage email, submit timecards and expense claims, and maintain accurate operational records.
Responsibilities include operating, servicing, and maintaining heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with specialized attachments, motor graders, and front-end loaders for summer and winter maintenance. Duties also involve operating advanced hydraulic systems for plows, wings, and sanders during snowstorms, conducting road surveillance, completing pre-trip inspections, tracking hours of operation and materials used, and working collaboratively to ensure public safety.
