Description

The Ministry of Highways offers an opportunity to support Saskatchewans transportation system while enjoying stable, yearround employment as an Equipment Operator in the Leader Section within the Operations and Maintenance Division. This position contributes to the safe operation and maintenance of provincial roads, highways, and airports that support economic growth and community connectivity.

The ministry is committed to an integrated transportation system, places safety at the core of its work, and values an inclusive and diverse workplace. Benefits include consistent yearround employment, guaranteed winter wages, employerpaid health and dental benefits, periodic earned days off, opportunities for training and leadership development, and being home most nights while working with modern equipment and technologies.

The ministry is seeking a highly motivated, dependable individual who works well in a team environment and is committed to public safety. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong situational awareness, adaptability, and sound decisionmaking skills, particularly in changing and highpressure conditions. Candidates must be approachable, flexible, and selfmotivated, willing to work flexible hours and perform effectively under physically and mentally demanding conditions, including extreme and changing weather.

To qualify, candidates must hold a valid Class 1A drivers licence and be prepared to provide a current driver abstract if invited to interview. The role requires physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual labour, along with basic computer skills to manage email, submit timecards and expense claims, and maintain daily operational records.
