Accountant for Manufacturing
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our team. This role is critical in managing our financial health, focusing on cost accounting, inventory accuracy, and leveraging our ERP system to drive operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between production floor activities and financial reporting, ensuring that our manufacturing costs are captured accurately and timely.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Analysis: Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead. Analyze variances between actual production costs and standards.
ERP Management: Serve as a key user for the ERP system, ensuring financial data integrity, troubleshooting system issues, and identifying opportunities for process automation.
Inventory Oversight: Lead month-end inventory reconciliations and assist with cycle counting programs. Analyze obsolescence and slow-moving stock.
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, focusing on Gross Margin analysis and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports.
Process Improvement: Partner with the production and machining teams to streamline workflows and improve data capture from the shop floor.
Compliance & Audit: Assist with year-end audits and ensure all manufacturing tax credits or provincial compliance requirements are met.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: 35 years of accounting experience specifically within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Systems Expertise: Proven experience working extensively with ERP software JobBOSS2.
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional designation (CPA) is considered a strong asset.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex production data into actionable financial insights.
