Description

Looking for a motivated individual to assist with a busy general practice law firm in Nipawin. Start date can be flexible. We are looking for an individual who is willing and able to commit long term. Position is approximately 32 hours/week. Start/end times to be discussed during interview.

The successful candidate must possess a general aptitude with computers (PC and Microsoft 365 programs, Adobe), office administration, organizational skills, attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and be a self-motivated learner.
No specific experience is required, however, previous office experience or legal assistant experience will be considered as a significant asset.
The applicant will be responsible for:
-Answering telephone and in-person inquiries
-Screening phone calls
-Maintaining an organized office and filing system
-Managing client expectations and assisting the lawyer with communicating with clients
-Receipting and depositing money
-Other basic accounting tasks as directed
-drafting legal correspondence and documents accurately
-following direction from the office lawyer and manager
-any other office tasks required (i.e. cleaning, take out garbage, shredding documents, getting mail, taking deposits, etc...)

The applicant will be expected to:
-learn legal concepts and processes in a relatively quick fashion
-be self-motivated and driven to problem solve independently
-assume responsibility for day-to-day tasks assigned to them
-be punctual and reliable every day
-be able to type and draft documents from scratch in a detailed and accurate manner without requiring significant supervision
-be motivated to learn and excel and to continuously enhance their skills
-be able to manage clients and field inquiries independently
-dress business casual on a daily basis
-criminal record check and security clearance are required
