Key knowledge and skills include understanding transportation legislation, commercial vehicle safety standards, investigative techniques, legal and court procedures, and public education practices. Candidates must meet mandatory requirements such as POPAT completion, a valid drivers licence, First Aid with AED, and psychological suitability for law enforcement. Training includes 22 weeks at the Saskatchewan Police College and 10 weeks of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement instruction.
Responsibilities include inspecting commercial vehicles, issuing charges, conducting investigations, responding to 911 calls, assisting police agencies, attending accidents, preparing reports, and delivering industry education.
