The Shop & Infield Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, and support machinery both in the shop and in the field. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
Shop Duties
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment (oil changes, filters, greasing, etc.)
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
Complete major and minor repairs on trucks and heavy equipment
Maintain accurate service records and repair logs
Keep shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards
Assist with parts inventory and ordering
Infield Duties
Travel to job sites to troubleshoot and repair equipment breakdowns
Perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime
Conduct field inspections and preventative maintenance
Communicate with operators regarding equipment performance and issues
Ensure all field work complies with safety regulations

Gravel crushers and screening plants
Loaders, excavators, and dozers
Gravel trucks and trailers
Light-duty trucks and support equipment
Qualifications
Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (preferred) or equivalent experience
Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Valid drivers license (Class 1A or 3A considered an asset)
Ability to work independently and in remote locations
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
Combination of shop environment and outdoor field work
Exposure to weather, dust, noise, and heavy machinery
Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak seasons
Physically demanding (lifting, climbing, working in tight spaces)
