Description

The Role
The Before and Afterschool Program Staff creates a warm, safe, and inclusive environment for school-aged children (typically ages 612) in accordance with Saskatchewans Child Care Regulations. This role focuses on providing engaging, play-based experiences outside of school hours while supporting childrens social, emotional, and developmental needs. This position follows a split shift schedule, with hours before and after the regular school day. During summer and school breaks, shifts transition to daytime hours.
Key Responsibilities
Provide active supervision to ensure childrens safety, health, and well-being
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally respectful environment
Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities (e.g., outdoor play, games, creative arts, and quiet/homework time)
Support childrens independence, social skills, and positive peer interactions
Prepare and organize materials and program spaces for daily activities
Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times
Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with children, families, and school staff
Follow all child guidance practices and provincial regulations
Assist with daily routines including transitions between school and program
Collaborate with team members and participate in meetings and professional development
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has experience working with school-aged children and a strong understanding of child development. Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level I, II, or III certification is considered an asset but is not required.
Required certifications include:
Current First Aid and CPR Level C
Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
You are a reliable, energetic, and caring individual who builds strong relationships with children and works well as part of a team. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to create engaging programming for older children are essential.
