Description

The Ministry of Highways is offering an opportunity to join the Melfort Section within the Operation and Maintenance Division, supporting the provinces transportation network of roads, highways, and airports. The ministry emphasizes safety, teamwork, and its commitment to an integrated system that contributes to Saskatchewans economic growth. This Labour Service role provides stable hours, employerpaid health and dental benefits, training and leadership development, work with advanced equipment, and the advantage of being home most nights.

They are seeking a motivated Equipment Operator with a valid Class 1A license and the ability to provide a current driver abstract if interviewed. The ideal candidate is adaptable, safetyfocused, and able to work well in an inclusive team environment. Strong situational awareness, sound decisionmaking in all weather conditions, and the ability to handle physically and mentally demanding work are essential. Basic computer skills are required for email, timecards, and expense submissions.

Key knowledge and skills include operating, servicing, and maintaining heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with attachments, graders, and loaders; using advanced hydraulic controls for plow, wing, and sander operations; and maintaining accurate daily records. Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours and contribute positively to team culture.
