Description

As a member of the Human Resource Leadership Team, the Director, Employee Relations, is responsible for leading the strategic labour and employee relations for Saskatchewan Polytechnic. The Director, Employee Relations, has direct responsibility for developing, enhancing and implementing a variety of progressive employee relations strategies, managing the organizations collective bargaining and grievance/arbitration processes, and assisting in the ongoing development and implementation of various policy initiatives designed to support the organization in effectively managing its human resources. This position plays a key role in ensuring labour relations strategies support both institutional sustainability and positive workplace culture. The Director, Employee Relations integrates equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation principles into employee and labour relations strategies, ensuring decision-making, policies, and practices promote fairness, respect, and trust across diverse employee groups while aligning with Saskatchewan Polytechnics commitments and values.

This position can be based at any of our Saskatchewan Polytechnic locations, requiring travel provincially. This role is one of four Directors reporting to the Associate Vice President, Human Resources.

The Director, Employee Relations has no direct reports, but exercises significant functional leadership and influence across the Human Resources team and the broader organization. As a member of the professional HR team, the Director provides direction and leadership on labour relations to the HR team across all Sask Polytech locations. This role also acts as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to senior leaders and managers, supporting informed decision-making on complex employee and labour relations matters while reinforcing shared ownership of outcomes.
