About the position: The Wawahtewikumihk Group Home Cook is a qualified cook that works under the supervision of the Group Home Supervisor. Plan and prepare food menu for a 24/7 operation that is consistent with Canadas Healthy Food Guide; Must be able to follow a meal plan as set out by the Nutritionist; Maintain records of food usage and supplies; Obtain food and supplies based of budget;
Duties:
- Planning and preparing a one-year food menu guide for a 24/7 operation that is consistent with Canadas Food Guide for First Nations, Inuit and Metis;
- Maintaining records of food supplies, stock and usage (includes master grocery list);
- Requesting Purchase Orders for groceries, equipment, and vending supplies based on the budget;
- Ensuring kitchen equipment is in safe, good working conditions;
- Cleaning and sanitizing work area such as wash floors, walls, windows; dishes; clean fridge, stove, counters, cupboards and spring cleaning using safe housekeeping guidelines;
- Utilizing knowledge of food safety and sanitation such as use of temperature gauges to check temperature of food; prevention of cross contamination; and follow sanitization schedule;
