Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate and maintain conventional machine shop equipment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in manual machining, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings. The Machinist will contribute to efficient repair work by utilizing various machine tools, hand tools, power tools, and welding techniques, ensuring high-quality output in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
-Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manual machines such as lathes, mills, drills, saws and horizontal boring mills.
-Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to produce accurate components.
-Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, depth mics, bore gages, and calipers to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met.
-Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, overhead cranes and forklifts as needed for assembly and material handling tasks.
-Collaborate with team members on projects requiring machining, assembly, or welding expertise.
Skills
-Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in custom machining and repair work.
-Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
-Millwrighting, welding, spray welding and portable line boring experience an asset but not required.
-Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tasks.
-Skilled in machining techniques using lathes, milling machines, slotters, radial arm drills, saws, horizontal milling machines, hand tools and power tools.
-Familiarity with micrometers, depth mics, and calipers for precise measurements.
-Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and safety compliance.
