Description

The Ministry of Justice offers meaningful legal work, competitive salary based on experience, a full benefits package after six months, scheduled days off, vacation, and strong worklife balance. The Melfort Public Prosecutions Office is seeking Crown Prosecutors to help deliver justice through fair and effective prosecutions. The role provides intellectual challenge, community impact, and the opportunity to work on Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, federal, and provincial statute matters.

They are looking for individuals with strong ethics, excellent judgment, and a commitment to public service. Ideal candidates communicate clearly, work independently and collaboratively, manage demanding caseloads, and demonstrate professionalism in highpressure situations. Strong analytical ability, interpersonal skills, and the capacity to meet tight deadlines are essential. Candidates must be eligible for membership in good standing with the Law Society of Saskatchewan and pass a criminal record check. Proficiency with legal research tools, MS Office, and case management systems is required; litigation experience is an asset but not mandatory.

Key knowledge and skills include legal analysis, courtroom advocacy, case preparation, and the ability to review police reports, provide legal opinions, and advise justice partners. The role may require evening or weekend work, travel by road or air, and occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities may include docket court, trials, summary conviction appeals, and participation in legal education.
