Job Description: The Mental Health Therapist  Staff is accountable for the provision of clinical counselling services to adult outpatients as required in Mental Health and Addictions. Reporting to the Manager, the incumbent is responsible for day-to-day client service delivery.

Human Resources Exemption: No
Education:- Baccalaureate Degree in Psychology, Social Work or other Human Services degree in relation to counselling.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of human behavior, group dynamics, how to present and explain materials, lead discussions.
- Counselling skills and knowledge base of group work and individual therapy.
- Knowledge of treating mood disorders, generalized anxiety and phobias, theory of abuse, factors leading to and perpetrating abuse.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act.
- Knowledge of case management principles.
- Knowledge in the areas of Family Violence, Depression Support, Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety and Phobias, etc.
- Competencies in relation to the assessment and treatment of personality and cognitive disorders.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Extended periods of visual and auditory attention.
- Vigilant to potentially explosive situations.
- Travel within the Province.
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of word processing and other software.
