Description

As a member of the MJHA Tenant Services Team, the Housing Resource Officer is responsible for providing services to all tenants of MJHA and supporting team members where needed.  

You will be responsible for providing support to ensure rules and policies are adhered to and respond to building crises, providing preventative support to tenants in need.  The HRO is also the primary contact for third party and community-based supports.  The HRO will assist applicants and current tenants through the processes that the social housing program requires.  And, in unfortunate situations where individuals are no longer able to maintain their housing, the HRO will be a resource and support to them to connect with the appropriate supports.

In this position you will be providing preventative services to ensure our buildings are safe and secure. Enforcing our building ban list as well as providing support and emergent case management to those struggling in their housing. Assisting fellow team members with unit inspections will be required on a regular basis.  Maintaining reports of incidents and encounters with tenants or guests will also be required. You will be required to travel between locations and work alone on site.  Maintaining existing relationships and partnerships as well as looking to other organizations to build new relationships in the hopes of supporting our tenants further.  You will also be responsible for researching and apply for grants to support our tenants.  It will be your focus to find opportunities to help provide our tenants with services to maintain their homes, improve their day to day, and build capacity to find work in our communitymay it be volunteer or paid employment.

Education: Post-secondary degree plus two (2) years experience in human services field. Candidates possessing an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
