Overview:
As part of the Department of Corporate Services, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill 1 Full-Time Finance Manager. The Finance Manager is responsible for the completeness and accuracy of the accounting procedures of the City and to provide timely financial information for decision-making purposes and to offer recommendations to the City Manager and other Department Heads on financial matters.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Maintain control and accountability of the monthly bank reconciliation
-Guide and support Corporate Services staff with account reconciliations in their respective areas
-Prepare financial and statistical reports required by Council, department heads and governmental departments or agencies
-Maintain control and accountability of the General Ledger, including journal entries, postings, creation of new accounts, and accuracy of all financial records and reports
-Provide guidance on the use of the corporate accounting system and ensure internal controls are followed to safeguard the City's financial resources
-Prepare, consolidate, and monitor the City's annual operating and capital budgets
-Prepare annual financial statements, including year-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and coordination with external auditors
Qualifications:
-Post-secondary education in Accounting or Public Administration from a University, College, or Technical Institute.
-Proficiency in Computer Software
-Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Compensation:
-This is an out-of-scope position with a salary range of $79,205-$96,275 (2025 rates) based on level of qualifications and experience
-General work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm with a 1-hr lunch
