Summer Student Job Summer Student Job

Description

Battlefords Interval House (BIH) provides emergency shelter, support, and advocacy for women and children experiencing interpersonal violence. This position is ideal for students interested in social services, community support, and program coordination in a supervised shelter setting.

The Student Support Assistant provides non-clinical support to daily shelter operations, childrens programming, and basic administrative tasks. All duties are performed under direct supervision.

Responsibilities include assisting with preparing client rooms, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining common areas; supporting childrens and family programming by preparing materials and assisting with activities; organizing donations, supplies, and client welcome items; and supporting daily routines such as meal preparation, kitchen upkeep, and basic housekeeping.

The student will also assist with non-confidential administrative tasks such as inventory tracking, organizing materials, and basic data entry, and may help prepare materials for outreach and community education activities.

This is a supervised position and does not include crisis intervention, intake, safety planning, or case management.
