Description

Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation is seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Operations to lead the delivery of programs and services that directly impact the well-being of our community. This is a senior leadership role responsible for guiding organizational excellence, strengthening governance, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across all departments.
Reporting directly to Chief and Council, the Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in shaping the Nations operational direction while fostering a culture rooted in respect, accountability, and community values.
Key Responsibilities
Provide executive leadership over all operational areas, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of programs and services
Oversee a diverse portfolio including Education, Health, Housing, Social Development, Lands, Finance, Justice, Recreation, and more
Lead, mentor, and support a workforce of approximately 160 staff (direct and indirect)
Act as the primary liaison between Chief and Council and Administration, ensuring alignment on priorities and execution
Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, funding agreements, policies, and procedures
Oversee financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and accountability for all programs and services
Drive strategic planning, program development, and continuous improvement initiatives
Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and community stakeholders
Ensure accurate and timely reporting to Chief and Council and external funding bodies
Promote ethical leadership, confidentiality, and culturally grounded decision-making.    Strong understanding of First Nation governance, legislation (including the Indian Act), and funding frameworks
Knowledge and respect for Nakoda culture, traditions, and community values
Proven leadership with the ability to inspire, influence, and build strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building
