Description

The Cultural Programs Facilitator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering culturally grounded programming that supports the wellbeing of participants within our Drop-in centre.  Working from a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally respectful approach, the facilitator creates a welcoming and inclusive environment that actively encourages participation, connection, and cultural identity. Traditional arts, connection to ceremony, land-based activities.
This position is part-time (8 hours per week, typically one full day) and may include occasional flexibility to support special cultural events or ceremonies.

Requirements
  Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and teachings
  Experience facilitating and engaging groups in community-based programming
  Demonstrated ability to connect with and motivate individuals who may be hesitant to participate
  Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals facing barriers such as homelessness, substance use, or social isolation
  Understanding of trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches
  Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  Valid drivers license, reliable vehicle, and willingness to provide transportation when required
    Familiarity with local service systems and community resources
    Basic computer literacy (email, document editing, data entry)
    Must be willing to complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
    Ability to intervene in crisis situations, including de-escalate verbal aggression, hostility, suicidality, mental and physical health crises.
