Summer Student JobBased in Saskatoon, this position (Summer 2026)reports to the FNHOO Associate Ombudsperson and works under the day to day supervision of Health Analysts. The Summer Student supports the Investigations team with administrative tasks, client intake and case support, research, and policy work, while developing practical skills related to First Nations health systems, complaint processes, and health equity advocacy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
assisting with client intake, triaging inquiries, tracking and handling confidential information, and completing administrative case management tasks. The role supports Analysts with client communications, scheduling, follow ups, and preparation of correspondence related to intakes, meetings, and case closures. Administrative duties include transcription, responding to information requests, proofreading and formatting documents, maintaining referral lists and databases, front desk coverage, call triage, and filing confidential records. Research duties include conducting background research on First Nations health issues and policy, reviewing legislation and practice standards, summarizing documents, and supporting preparation of briefing materials and reports. Occasional travel within Saskatchewan may be required for outreach and events.
Education & Training: Must be a full time post secondary student returning in Fall 2026, preferably in a health related field (Social work, nursing, public policy, Indigenous health, law, or mental health). Medical terminology, customer service experience, and strong computer skills are assets. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and comply with HIPA standards. Knowledge of First Nations history, Treaty rights, health service delivery, and systemic health issues in Saskatchewan is required. Trauma Informed Care will be an asset.
