Role Overview
An Overhead Door Technician Helper assists in installing, servicing, and repairing residential and commercial overhead doors, dock levelers, and operators. This is an entry-level, full-time temporary position with the option to stay on permanently. The role focuses on learning the trade.
Key Responsibilities
Installation Support: Assisting technicians with assembling and installing garage doors, tracks, and openers.
Service & Repair: Assisting with fixing springs, cables, rollers, and motors.
Site Preparation: Loading/unloading tools and materials, measuring job sites, and maintaining a clean job site.
Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations, including wearing PPE, using harnesses, and implementing fall protection.
Team Collaboration: Working as part of a crew and communicating professionally with customers and dispatcher.
Requirements
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 75lbs and work at heights in varying weather conditions.
Travel & Availability: Willingness for out-of-town travel for installation and service work.
Mechanical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
Experience: 36 months in construction or related trades is preferred.
Licensing: Valid drivers license with a clean abstract.
Compliance: Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol (D&A) testing for site access or post-incident requirements.
Certification: Current safety certifications (e.g., Fall Protection, WHMIS) are preferred but not required.
