The Role
Cameco is looking for a motivated and ambitious individual to join our geology team. In this position, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist.
In this role, you will:
-Ensure acquisition and management of diamond drill core logging, record data into the database and verify the accurate selection and shipment of core samples.
-Have oversight for underground tunneling, provide guidance on development, ground conditions and ensure prints are followed.
-Be responsible for recording and reporting NATM (New Austrian Tunnelling Method) activity, underground mapping of development headings, computerized data management, data quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) and radiometric probing.
Required:
-bachelors degree in geology or geological engineering;
-minimum of two years of relevant geological/mine geology experience (core logging, underground geological mapping);
-equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
-experience working in an underground work environment;
-strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment;
-Ability and willingness to perform manual labour, including heavy lifting, as required for this position;
-Valid class 5 drivers licence;
-Safety oriented work attitude; and
-work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
-eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
-working knowledge of geological database and mining software: AcQuire, Vulcan and Leapfrog; and
-applicants will be considered for a level within the job progression, which is appropriate to their qualifications.
