Description

NWC Environmental Services in their role as Project Manager is seeking to identify, retain, and support Land Guardian(s) representing pertinent Mtis knowledge and interests on an as-needed basis for the remaining construction of SaskPowers ML3-AMY Project.

JOB DUTIES
a) Be fit for work, adhere to all applicable rules and safety requirements established by SaskPower and take part in health and safety briefings and tailgate meetings.
b) Work in a mutually beneficial manner with First Nation Land Guardian(s) to identify and document areas of cultural significance.
c) Be familiar with and proactively share cultural protocols with SaskPowers Indigenous Relations and Environment & Sustainability designates.
d) Conduct periodic inspections of the project activities for the purpose of cultural auditing.
e) Act as a liaison between Mtis communities, SaskPower and contractors, including community members and Elders from: Beauval Sipishik #37, Sapawgamik #176, Canoe River #174, Buffalo Narrows #62, and A La Baie #21
f) Provide as needed support to the on-site SaskPower construction inspector.

QUALIFICATIONS  
a. Has strong knowledge and understanding of local to the project Indigenous cultures, traditions, and protocols.
b. Preserves and promotes Indigenous cultural heritage and fosters positive relationships between Indigenous communities and SaskPower.
c. Has a valid drivers licence and access to transportation.
d. Physically able to walk through difficult terrain for extended periods of time.
e. Willing to participate in activities in varying weather conditions (e.g., rain, snow, heat).
f. Has appropriate transportation, gear, and tools for work.
