The Saskatchewan Coroners Service in the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General is responsible for the investigation of all unexpected, unnatural, and unexplained deaths to improve the health, safety, and quality of life of the citizens of Saskatchewan.
The Opportunity:
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to be an integral member of the senior management team of the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. As the Deputy Chief Coroner, you will provide leadership, direction, and support to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services relating to the investigation, education, and prevention of unexpected, unnatural, and unexplained deaths in the province.
Reporting to the Chief Coroner, you will:
- Manage various areas of the provincial coroners program providing ongoing strategic advice and recommendations, and developing and initiating policies and work standards relating to coroner investigations and inquests;
- Develop, implement and evaluate multi-disciplinary strategies to advance the prevention mandate of the SCS;
Lead and provide direction, guidance, support, and training to coroners, including being part of the management team that provides provincial on-call telephone support after business hours to coroners, police, health professionals and families;
- Manage the ongoing maintenance and development of the coroners case management system and ensure the effective use of human and financial resources interfaces with government agencies, police, pathologists, physicians, media, and other stakeholders to deliver efficient and effective services.
