The Zagime Cannabis Board is seeking a proactive and professional Regulatory Officer & Inspector to lead Regulatory Services and support the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) program. This role ensures cannabis licensee operations align with regulatory requirements and internal policies, strengthening the Boards compliance strategy and risk posture.
Reporting to the Chair, the Regulatory Officer & Inspector is responsible for maintaining the integrity of licensed cannabis operations on Zagime lands. Duties include conducting inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with the Zagime Anishinabek Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and Board policies. The role also involves monitoring responsible cannabis sales, verifying patron identification (19+), and addressing non-compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field; or post-secondary diploma in law enforcement, security, justice, or investigations with 2+ years relevant experience; or 5 years management experience in a licensed premise
Knowledge of Zagime Anishinabek Cannabis & Hemp Act, ZCB Cannabis Control and Licensing Regulations (2019), and Board policies
Proficiency with computer systems for reporting, case management, and documentation
Strong communication, judgment, and investigative skills with the ability to resolve conflicts
Ability to collaborate with colleagues, leadership, and community members
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional travel
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections and regulatory investigations of licensed cannabis facilities
Investigate complaints, document findings, and present evidence at Board meetings/hearings
Ensure licensee compliance with legislation, regulations, and policies
Draft, review, and maintain regulations, policies, and procedures
Contribute to the development and implementation of regulatory frameworks
