Description

The Street Worker's Advocacy Project is hiring two Casual Program Support Workers for our Raising Hope Program.  The shifts for these positions may include evenings, overnights and various weekend shifts.
The Raising Hope program is a program for pregnant or early post partum women who struggle with addiction issues.  The program is delivered from a secure apartment building with a maximum capacity for 14 families. The program is staffed 24/7 with a minimum of 2 staff on each shift.  The goals of the program include healthier pregnancies and births, keeping mothers and newborns together, reuniting parents with children in care, and increasing family wellness through programming for addictions, parenting, prenatal health, and skills for healthy living.  The Program Support Workers provide supervision, mentoring and supports to program participants guided by the principles of trauma informed practice and harm reduction.  Duties may include providing one-on-one coaching and encouragement, assisting participants to develop parenting and life skills and providing transportation for participants as needed for medical appointments, activities and events. Previous experience working within a group home setting and/or working with families with similar challenges are assets.  The successful candidate will have general knowledge of problematic substance use, maternal mental health, infant and baby care, and those issues and factors which contribute to family and individual dysfunction.  The successful candidate will also have strong communication, relationship building, advocacy, and conflict resolution skills.  A combination of education and experience will be considered.
