The Language and Cultural Coordinator will lead the delivery of the Flying Dust Youth, Language and Land Stewardship Initiative. This position will support youth and families through Cree language revitalization, cultural teachings, and land-based programming.Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and deliver Cree language programming for youth and families Facilitate cultural teachings and land-based programming guided by Elders and Knowledge Keepers Support youth participation in cultural activities such as ceremonies, seasonal camps, and community events Promote intergenerational knowledge transfer through engagement with Elders and community members Support youth resilience and positive identity through cultural connection and wellness programming Organize and assist with community events (ie: cultural camps, Treaty Day, seasonal events, youth gatherings, etc.) Maintain attendance tracking, program records, and support evaluation and reporting requirements Provide monthly updates to the Program Steering Committee Ensure all programming is trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and inclusive Manage program logistics, scheduling, and materials within the approved budget
Must have completed a Grade 12 education (post-secondary education is an asset) Provide a clean, current CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check Valid Drivers License Strong knowledge of Cree language and culture (fluency is an asset) Experience working with youth, families, or First Nations communities Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and intergenerational impacts of residential schools Must role model a healthy lifestyle
