The Carillon is the independent, student-run newspaper at the University of Regina, serving the campus since 1962. As a student-funded publication, it provides a platform for diverse voices through news, arts, culture, sports, and opinion while offering hands-on media experience.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief/Editorial Consultant, the Audiovisual (AV) Producer develops and produces The Carillon podcast series and social media content. This role helps bring stories, interviews, and discussions to life through engaging audio and digital media.
Responsibilities
Content Production (70%)
Develop podcast concepts, themes, and episode plans
Research stories, topics, and guests
Create scripts, outlines, and interview questions
Record high-quality audio using production equipment
Edit podcasts using software such as Audacity or Adobe Audition
Produce audio/video content for social media
Ensure polished and accessible final products
Collaboration (20%)
Work with editorial leadership to align content with priorities
Participate in meetings and provide updates
Contribute ideas to multimedia growth and strategy
Professional Development (10%)
Participate in training opportunities
Seek feedback and mentorship
Complete related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education or experience in journalism, communications, media, or related field
Strong organization and time management skills
Experience creating audio, video, or social media content
Strong English communication skills
Ability to maintain professionalism and integrity
Collaborative and proactive attitude
Eligibility
Ages 1530 at start of employment
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person
Legally entitled to work in Canada
