Job Description: Reporting to the Manager of Quality & Safety, the Patient Safety Specialist supports the SHA in the identification, analysis, trending and reporting of safety events, patient safety concerns and in developing program/service improvement actions and specific initiatives related to improving the quality and safety of care and services, as well as increasing patient and family involvement in safety reporting and follow up.
They facilitates the development of recommendations and actions to mitigate risk of reoccurrence with operational ownership, ensures legislative requirements are met, develops clinical safety policies and safety reporting, maintains the Critical Incident database, supports the development of patient safety reporting processes and databases. and provides SHA employee safety education and training.

Experience
- 3-5 years' experience working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
- Five (5) years leadership experience
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Other Education and Training
- Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in a healthcare or management related discipline
- Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
